A year of blogging. Rok blogowania.
I wrote the first post on the 16th of October 2016. I would definitely say it was worth it.
Pierwszy wpis napisałem 16 października 2016. Zdecydowanie było warto.
We’ve been getting ready for running a blog for a while. I had a different name that turned out to be a bad one, it was difficult to find a new one (I plan to write about it one day), a bunch of drafts that were nowhere near completion. But we found Breadcentric, and decided to start and to see how it would go.
I would like to share a small summary.
What I liked
- We have been publishing regularly: 84 posts in 52 weeks. There was only one week when we published nothing at all. I don’t think I had anything like this before and had done it that regularly.
- We are receiving feedback. And we’re not just talking about the 200 friends and family out of 300 people liking our page on Facebook. New people come to us for advice, request recipes, show what they have made with recipes from our blog.
- We make friends with other amateur bakers, and professional ones too.
- We have learned a lot. Technically, linguistically, in terms of social media.
What I didn’t like
- It’s hard. I mean man, it’s hard. Writing regularly is time consuming. One needs to spend a lot of time to prepare the food, make pictures without covering the whole camera in flour, write about it, translate it.
- It’s difficult to keep the time balance. Sometimes it’s too easy to forget about everything and just bake. Everything doesn’t forget about me.
- It’s annoying. To be precise, I am annoying. Bread this, bread that, blog this, blog that.
What I would like to do next
- Change the page look. I don’t really like the current layout anymore. I’m missing categories, the featured images are too big in articles.
- Create a logo. All the ideas so far were poor, I need to speed it up.
- I would like a more user-friendly way to provide the recipe. I’m thinking about Gnome Recipes format, or some standard recipe data format with a viewer, or at least a recipe card.
- What else? Tell me.
Some stats
- 84 posts published, viewed over 14 thousand times
- Over 8 thousand visitors detected
- The most popular posts were Sourdough. Zakwas, Gluten-free bread. Chleb bezglutenowy, Silesian sourdough. Chleb śląski na zakwasie and How to start baking? Jak zacząć piec?
- Posts I’m particularly proud of are Dzionie and Why bread? Czemu chleb?
That’s about it. I don’t think I will be doing anniversary posts apart from this one, maybe I will stick to an end-of-year summary. We’ll see.
Finally, I would like to thank you. You are the sense of running this blog. It is very motivating when you comment, share, recommend us. Please don’t stop.
