Tosty francuskie. French toasts.

So you don’t know what to do with that old bread in your bread box? To hard to eat? Don’t throw it away, make some French toast.
Więc nie wiesz co zrobić z tym starym chlebem w Twoim chlebaku? Zbyt twardy do zjedzenia? Nie wyrzucaj go, zrób tosty po francusku.
I keep returning to this post I started writing long long before: How to use excess bread? I have asked around and got a couple answers. One of them was “just fry it dipped in egg”. So there it is.
If you have other ideas, let me know. I’ll be happy to try them out!
Planning
None. You’ll need a frying pan
French toast
Ingredients
I’m not providing any quantities – it depends on how much you need to make.
- Slices of old bread
- An egg
- A bit of milk (we used half a cup for three eggs)
- A pinch of salt
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Optional additions (favourite spices, cheese, whatever you like)
Preparation
- Whisk the egg
- Add milk and whisk some more. Add spices and whatever you want to add
- Put the frying pan with oil on medium heat
- Dip bread and fry on both sides until golden-brown
- Eat warm
- If you have a lot of egg whisk left, add some flour to make a bit of dough and fry it as well – I love this kind of “pancake”
Comfort food – just what I need for the autumn!
